This could be an interesting rumour.
Leverkusen just proved, that they are forcing to show a strong position.
Vidal and his agent broke actually an agreement with Bayern, they broke their words with Bayern, because Leverkusen denied a transfer this summer strongly.
Apart from my opinion, that Sam wouldn't be an increase of quality in the Chelsea squad, I think Leverkusen can't afford to lose out on Augosto (who is a central midfielder as well as Vidal is).
Actually you know, it's not exactly a rumor. Just trying to analyse where club might look for relatively cheaper options without compromising a lot on the quality.
Renato Augusto was a prime target for us few years ago & we probably inquired too before the WP issues forced our hands as they realised it will be tough to get a permit for him. We're trying for some of players that cost huge fortunes in this inflated market. So we looked at Romeu instead of spending 7mn+ on Parker. Same logic goes for Augusto too, albeit on a different level. He can go straight into a team as an experienced pro. Also another point was his recent Brazil NT call up. With Neymar & Ganso out of hand & Lucas having a huge buyout, Augusto is a decent proposition.
Also as chelseafan87 said earlier, we may be tracking some of lesser Brazilians like Costa Willian etc. One rumor I heard today that Vagner Love will move to Porto while Falcao will join Chelsea(makes little sense).
Sidney Sam was a pure guess, have no idea whether people at Cobham rates him or not, but he is my personal favorite, decent player & won't cost a big fortune.

That's a different proposition, which will depend on successful talks between both parties & Bayer's willingness to sell. Augusto will cost but not as much as likes of Pastore or Modric. Basically I don't expect to sign right in this season. But if situation arises.....

Lamela joined Roma. I think you meant some other player.
Sorry my mistake, I meant to say we've missed out on Sergio Araujo and Erik Lamela (and actually Rogelio Funes Mori, now I've checked) but we may yet have a decent run at Rodrigo Battaglia, who actually plays for Huracán (sorry I was tired, i managed to spell the name write but I put it in the wrong place!).
Zitat von Blue_RebelZ:
On another note, do you think we still have an interest on Leverkusen players, particularly renato Augusto & Sam? given that Augusto has been called up by Brazil recently.
It's the first I've heard of a move for Renato Augusto, he'd be a decent signing, in fact I'd go as far to say he'd be a good signing, but I haven't heard anything about it (but doesn't mean it's not going to happen, he fits in well to Villa Boas' philosophy I think so it may well be on the cards). I don't see Sidney Sam moving to Chelsea (I know you're a fan, I just don't see it happening though).
Zitat von Manutd78:
You're calling up a wide circle of names, but where's the big name's signing?
Where is the high quality winger or central midfielder?
I read about Sissokho, who is definitely a good player, or about Asamoah, who's quality as well and even Odjidja-Ofoe is such a good player, but is this worldclass? I mean yet...is this worldclass at the moment or are these just a couple of highly rated talents, who could be far above the average in a couple of years? I mean, no offense, these are great players, but I don't think that it's enough to sign an Asamoah or Odjidja-Ofoe and be happy.
If Chelsea is aiming for a long-term-competition with United for being EPL champion and if Chelsea is seeking for the possibility to win the Champions League, I don't think they are that well advised to sign players, who are quite good, but not worldclass yet.
I mean, Modric could be an interesting signing and Pastore could mean an increase of quality in the central midfields position as well, but honestly...While Lampard passed his prime of career, Terry is on his way to do the same and Drogba is headed south as well.
Malouda is maybe at the peak of his career, but he's been the life ensurance for Chelsea the past two years. I just don't think he's able to be this again and again. Even Malouda is out of form or injured at a point.
So the only player, who can be called as a high quality one at the moment and for a couple of years from now is Torres, and honestly, Torres has been dealing with his fitness and form for a long time, so he's not the most reliable player in the world.
So, my point is (apart from the fact, that time's running out for a couple of Chelsea players now or soon) that Chelsea do need some players, who are close to the status of being world class now and are able to one of the worlds best for the next years.
And I don't see Odjidja-Ofoe or Asamoah being at this level now.
As much as I'd like to disagree, I would have to agree with your statement, we've got a few too many players on the wrong side of 30 and the young players that I and many others are very keen to bring into the squad are not yet at the point in their careers where they are among the best in the world, best in the world for their age yes, but not best in the world regardless of age.
I'm very keen (which is I'll admit pretty clear from my preferred players) to sign a number of young defensive and central midfielders, wingers and strikers, and this will stand us in good stead in the long term...but right now we need one or two more world beaters to really carry the challenge to Barca, Real Madrid and the Manchester clubs.
Moussa Sissoko, Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, Kwadwo Asamoah, Fernando (and if recent reports are to be believed Yann M'Vila, Rennes' young defensive midfield star) are all potential options to join Mikel, the injured Essien, and Oriol Romeu in the defensive midfield. None are among world's best right now, but all have potential to be in that elite group. As we're not really looking at an established DM, other than perhaps Scott Parker, then one (preferably two given Romeu's potentially troublesome buyback clause) will need to be signed as long term replacements for Essien and Mikel (right now they can learn from the world's best Michael Essien, who you should have included alongside Torres as high quality).
Modric has never been my answer to the problem of Lampard's age, they're different kinds of players, A like for like replacement for Lampard would be a big hard running attacking midfielder, but I can't think of anyone out there who possesses the exact qualities that Frank has (and is available...perhaps Mario Balotelli?). It now looks likely that Javier Pastore, will be the man given the duties, possibly supported by Joao Moutinho (and possibly in the future Steven Defour or Alan Dzagoev or Paulo Henrique Ganso), definitely supported by Yossi Benayoun and Ramires.
As for wingers there has been more speculation that Chelsea may, regardless of his buyout clause, try and sign Hulk (excellent, but I'm not sure if it's anything more than hopeful speculation), while talk about the Shaktar Brazilian, Douglas Costa, Alex Teixeira and Willian has recommenced (there's also been some promising talk about Jano Ananidze). Gael Kakuta and Daniel Sturridge cannot be forgotten either (though that still leaves issues on the right wing). Jonathan Biabiany would be an excellent addition, I cannot understand why he isn't being considered.
As for strikers, who knows what's happening there, Hulk, Lukaku and/or Falcao are the only one's I'd bank on seeing in blue now. Oh and btw, Adryan was one of the stars of the U17 World Cup in Mexico.
Onto a few more pieces of news, we're apparently making ground in our pursuit of Javier Pastore, Kaka may be on his way to Milan, Manchester or London and Arsenal have foolishly released their young star Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (or JET) to raise funds, this is ludicrous, he was their best young player (bar Ryo Miyachi), sign him from Ispwich now Villa Boas!

Zitat von Manutd78:
Let me think about it...apart from being a realistic target, just to show Lampard's not irreplaceable...
Schweinsteiger, Moutinho, Yaya Toure, Javi Martinez, Kevin Prince Boateng, Marouane Fellaini (if he'd stay fit for a year), Yoann Gourcuff, maybe Fernando from Porto...(of course Moussa Sissokho and Steven Defour, in addition to some other players, who maybe upcoming stars like Miralem Pjanic or Yann M'Vila).
I don't think Lampard is irreplaceable, I just don't see any real like for like replacements available at this time, Schweinsteiger would be ideal, but he's not available (ditto Yaya Toure and Boateng), Moutinho, Defour and Fellaini are better passers of the ball than Lampard, no doubt in that, but all lack his physicality and prowess in front of goal. Gourcuff failed to impress at Milan and Lyon (and against Chelsea when he played for Bordeaux). Fernando, Sissoko and M'Vila are all up and comers, but none are there yet, at least in attack (though I'd argue they'd probably do a decent job defensively versus Lampard). Miralem Pjanic, alongside Alan Dzagoev and Paulo Henrique Ganso play a similar role for their respective teams that Lampard does for Chelsea, but none have the same kind of physical presence of Lampard.
I only mentioned Balotelli because he has experience playing behind other forwards (at Mourinho's Inter Milan, where to be fair he was even more troubled than during his stay at Man City), he's got an imposing physical presence and style of play (and a cracking Lampard esque long range shot), and he might be available.
I expect that Javier Pastore will probably be signed now as Lampard's replacement, a role he'll be supported in, at least this season, by Lampard himself, plus Yossi Benayoun and Ramires (and possibly Joao Moutinho, others may follow, Ganso, Defour etc, in the future).
Zitat von Manutd78:
Alright, sign one of them, e.g. Hulk, what now?
You've got Malouda and Hulk (e.g.) with Sturridge, Benayoun and Kalou as back-ups, to compete in four competitions. And what, if somebody's seriously injured?
You need at least three world class players for two positions and one back-up, who is above the average to sincerly compete in so many competitions.
Just two high-quality wingers are not enough, if you're having a streak of bad luck and two injured wingers.
I just wanna remind you on that bad winter, United suffered one-and-a-half-year ago (or two-and-a-half-years?), when eight (!) defenders have been injured and we played with Carrick and Fletcher in the centre-back positions.
You have to be prepared for a situation like that apart from the need for good competition in training.
One winger and one central midfielder are just not enough.
I'd say Chelsea should let Sturridge go out on loan, Anelka negotiate with another club and sign at least one high-quality central midfielder and two first-class wingers.
This is a squad size problem, if we'd had the eight defenders injured like Man U, Drogba and Ross Turnbull would have been playing in the centre of defence! :o . Seriously though Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool all have giant squads, filled with not only players from their academies, but also actual back up players, experienced guys who may only get 5 starts and half a dozen bench appearances a year, but are capable of holding their own when the players from the 1st and 2nd XI are injured. At Chelsea we have sort of a 1st XIV or XV, our immediate bench would start for most teams (I can't think of any other side which would play a guy like Yuri Zhirkov on the bench!), unfortunately beyond them, there's almost nobody, academy players are sent on loan or released, and when second string players are signed they're rarely in the team for long before moving on (I thought that Benayoun was essentially signed as a utility midfielder, it seems increasingly apparent that had it not been for his injury he would have played an important front line role in last season's campaign).
This is a problem that needs a definitive solution and preferably soon, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much impetus for solving this problem at the moment, though there has been some speculation around the traps that Villa Boas recognises the issue, with reports that a deal for Scott Dann, the definitive second stringer may be close. I know that Ancelotti recognised this issue as well though, and nothing was done under his tutelage about it, in fact we let Ballack, who didn't want to leave and would've been an ideal injury replacement for almost anyone in the 1st XI (he would have wanted 1st team football, but from what I understand he may struggle to get that at Leverkusen soon) go, he could have been our Giggs, hell Man City made a very serious attempt to sign him in January, to essentially be their Giggs.
Just on Hulk, there are reports indicating that a big bid for Hulk was recently (ie yesterday) rejected by Porto, and another bid was also rejected (this is interesting stuff, it's believed that the two bidding clubs were Anzhi and either Chelsea or Man City). Speculation is also rife about the future of Shaktar's Brazilian wingers, Douglas Costa, Alex Teixeira and Willian, with both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Barca said to be interested in one or more of them.
Zitat von Manutd78:
edit: City signed Aguero. Waiting for the snowball-effect.
Let the games begin (apparently the fee was pretty huge for this one).
Onto today's speculation, firstly heaps on Pastore and Modric, a bit on Hulk and Lukaku, and a bit on a fight between Chelsea and Arsenal for young Croat Mateo Kovacic.

Zitat von Manutd78:
Lampard's just the offensive of three central midfielders in Chelseas 4-3-3, but has to deal with defending and structuring defensive-teamwork and instructing teammates. Indeed he's more offensively playing than Mikel and even Essien, but in my opinion he's not compareable to Balotelli, who if he'd been settled behind the forwards, played more as a winger of kind of a "shadow striker" behind the centre forward, but not in a playmaking role.
That's true, but I've always felt that Lampard was at his best when he had little defending to do, he has certainly changed from the out and out attacking midfielder into a more nuanced central mid, a role he has embraced, but hasn't quite embraced him, he's fine playing there when we play someone like West Brom or Blackburn, but against Barcelona he'd be exposed.
Zitat von Manutd78:
Well, I think you underrate Pjanic a bit here. He's not at the same level, which Lampard's on, but his a talented guy, with a brillant technique, a good passing midfielder and quite able to play physically.
I have to agree with your opinions about Ganso (who is not as much talented as most of the footballfans think of him. in my opinion he's more like a "tipp-kick"-player (if you know that game) with a brillant technique and tremendous shot) and Dzagoev, but I'm convinced that Pjanic has the ability to honestly compete with the level, Lampard's been on the last couple of years.
I think that Pjanic is increasingly considered by many fans (if not management, I know there was interest in the past, but there hasn't been much recently) as one of the better, if not the best option to replace Lampard, he has all the skill and even if he's not quite as physical, he's certainly robust. It really doesn't seem to matter about Ganso, I think he's potentially a truly brilliant player, not a replacement for Lampard but a great player to have in the team all the same, but for all Chelsea, Man U and Anzhi's approaches, his heart seems set on AC Milan, and I doubt unlike some others (a certain Javier Pastore springs to mind) his head can be turned. Dzagoev, a massive Chelsea and Lampard fan btw, has long been earmarked as a future Chelsea star, but we now, all of a sudden and for no apparent reason have gone cold on him (and Arsenal are seeking his signature), he's absolutely tireless and always gives 110%, even if he's not the most talented option, he's good and I'd love a player with that kind of mentality in the team.
Zitat von Manutd78:
Don't think so. Following the Vidal-transfer Leverkusen seems not to be in for another central midfielder. So with Ballack and Rolfes, Bender and Balitsch they've got four players for two positions in their (mostly played) 4-4-2 for three competitions (Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Pokal (which is the german cup)). Balitsch is more like an allrounding backup for the position of the right-back, central-/defensive midfielder or the right midfielder; so there are three quality players left.
Ballack's (as you should have recognized) been sacked from german national-team-football, so he can totally focus on his campaign with Leverkusen now.
I don't think he's going to struggle here (in fact, if he's not suffering an injury).
And this is what Giggs is to Manchester United. Apart from being a fu....legend (and I get tears in my eyes thinking about his retirement) and role-model, he's actually still able to play as a central midfielder, on the wings and in the playmaking position without a loss of quality for United (and this is maybe what Scholes and Neville have been in the end).
I knew he was sacked from the German team, though I had though Leverkusen would be looking for another midfielder to replace (well attempt to replace, Vidal's left a pretty big hole) Arturo Vidal, and given Ballack's age, he'll be 35 soon, they may be looking to shift him to the bench and use him for the role I envisioned for him at Chelsea, the Giggs role the old warhorse who can fill a variety of roles and never let you down (which he'll do even if he's in the starting XI for Leverkusen, I know he never let us down at Chelsea, alongside Essien he was the backbone of our midfield for 4 seasons. I think it's quite clear that if I'd been in charge, he would have had his wish and ended his career at Chelsea).
Zitat von Manutd78:
But I got your point. In your opinion Chelsea need kind of a backup, who's such a quality player, connected with the club, able to play a couple of position and if possible experienced, but not outdated, so he's able to help Chelsea without losing out on quality, if somebody injures or has to recover from a stressful time.
Hit the nail on the head. It needn't necessarily be Ballack (come back Michael, Villa Boas would have you I'm sure), but we need someone of his calibre in the 2nd XI, hell we need an actual 2nd XI if we want to compete in four competitions. All good 2nd XI's have primarily young up and coming players as well as a few old warhorses (your Ballack or Giggs) to both be a leader for the young players and to fill in at difficult times for the 1st XI, currently we don't have that (Zhrikov is a 1st XI player in every team I can think of other than Chelsea and Barcelona, while some of our other 2nd XI players wouldn't make the cut in Bundesliga 2 {that's perhaps an exaggeration, but not a big one}). It's hard to think of the kind of players that we really need to increase squad depth at this point, because there are so many areas where we have few options after the 1st choice player.
Zitat von Manutd78:
Sorry, but listing names like Anzhi, Chelsea and Man City made me associating with the imagination of Chelsea, Anzhi and Manchester City sitting at one table and competing for a player to sign him...I know, it's not funny for you, but I just had to laugh about that picture, which included an angry departure from Abramovich and AVB after they have been outdone, followed by a never ending financial battle between Manchester City and Anzhi...
Unfortunately it's not all that far from the truth.
Zitat von Manutd78:
But coming back to seriousness, I've to admit, that the contract extension of Hulk has been a clever move from Porto, hasn't it?
Yes
Zitat von Manutd78:
Still missing a quality winger.
Do you know, who'd fit perfectly to Chelsea? Walcott or Lennon. Lennon seemed to have a lot of disagreements with "wheeler-dealer" Redknapp (but came up as a starter in pre-season a couple of times as it seemed (I just watched one game of Tottenham in pre-season, so I'm not that sure about it)) and Walcott has actually been linked with a move to Chelsea (as you said) and could compete for trophies with Chelsea.
I know it seems hard, seeing anyone of them joining from another London Club, but honestly, there have been some players, who has been kind of turncoat (Adebayor, Campbell...), but I could imagine one of them playing for your right wing...
I've got no problem hiring a turncoat (or 'Mercenary' as they're often termed by Liverpool and Man U supporters, that's football today get over it already!), Walcott would be ideal (and cheaper than Hulk, plus he's over 21 and English, he'd be perfect) the only question is will he leave Arsenal and the answer is...maybe but probably not (at least at the moment). Lennon would also be good, but I don't see a move happening (and we wasted the narrow chances we had of signing Young or Downing from Villa). Man City's Adam Johnson is apparently unhappy with life lived in David Silva's shadow (understandably as he's a good player, but not David Silva good), and he may be available , but no doubt Man City will make us pay ala Bayern and Jerome Boateng.
The non English wing options are not looking any easier, Willian and Douglas Costa are all options, but from what I understand we're not leading the race to sign any of them (damn Man City and Barcelona!), while Shaktar will try to keep Alex Teixeira (and if they part with Willian and Costa they'll be under no financial strain to deal with Chelsea for Teixeira). Mata looks Arsenal bound, Greizmann looks Athletico bound, Dszudszak went to Anzhi, Coentrao went to Real. Hulk, despite his jaw dropping price is really our best option (we should also make a play for Diego Perotti).
Onto today's transfer speculation and the big news is we're 90% likely to miss out on Javier Pastore as PSG have offered double the wages Chelsea we're offering (another one bites the dust). Joao Moutinho has been linked as a Modric alternative, we've also been linked to Michel Bastos and a trio of unhappy Man City players (who don't like Aguero's weekly take home being so much bigger than their own), Micah Richards, Nigel de Jong and Vincent Kompany (possibly, no and no). Man U have joined the race for AIK and Sierra Leone strikers Mohamed and Teteh Bangura.
Further we've been linked with 17 year old CSKA forward Serder Serderov, the new Russian 'Sergio Aguero', young Lens right back Serge Aurier, Internacional's 19 year old Oscar, dubbed the 'next Kaka' and Real Madrid's young star Joselu, who may be pushed out should Real sign Tevez.
Blue_RebelZ, I'll cover our relationship with Maribor (and our general socuting interest in the Balkans) soon, I'm just waiting to hear back from a friend who covers the Balkan leagues for the Swedish media.
Yes

Thanks chelseafan87.
On today's speculation note, how is this Internacional's Oscar that we're linked with? & a little clearer on Joselu i.e what kind of a player he is. I think these will have foundations as Villas Boas has already admitted that our transfer targets will be primarily young players.
On another note, heard from another forum that apart from us manutd were the other who presented Dennis Suarez an offer. But the player is happy in a bigger pay from city & wants to sit on the bench. That one will bite the dust in 4 years time.

Zitat von Manutd78:
This is what Giggs did for example. He's not running down the wings over 90minutes anymore, but he's an extraordinary smart and clever player, who has this ability to read a game. And this is, what makes him so successfull in his age. He keeps his radius of action small until he has to tackle the opponent or speed up.
This is, what could be Lampard's development as well, and more than you, I think Lampard passed his peak or prime of career at the latest last campaign.
So passing his prime of career (and I mentioned that quite often, I know it's kind of annoying for you) has not necessarily the meaning of falling out of the game.
He's just implementing the necessary change from a playmaker into a more and more central midfielder.
Firstly I'd agree that Lampard is past his prime, I just think that were he allowed to play in the role he had several years ago, a more out and out attacking midfielder he'd be performing better than he is today. He's not a bad central midfielder, he's in fact pretty good (when you consider it's not his traditional role in the team and given his age), however I think he was a truly great attacking mid, though to be fair it's been a while since he's played that role for us and he would also have almost certainly also declined in ability had he remained in that position. I spoke to a few fellow Chelsea fans last night and they're holding out for Dzagoev as the long term Lampard replacement, though they recognise he's less technically adept than Ganso or Pjanic, they think (and to a degree I'm inclined to agree) that his effort and grittiness make him ideal (though he's also a tad short).
Further while I am desperate for us to find a 'Giggs analogue' I don't think Lampard is the man, he's already stated he wants to finish his career in the MLS and I don't think he's got the right mindset to really revel in that role (his troublesome back and groin are also an issue). I was speaking to the same group of other fans last night about a Giggs type player for Chelsea, and nobody thought anyone in the current squad (except a few votes for Alex and the injured Essien) could cut it, but there were few other options proposed (other than the surprising suggestion of Mahamadou Diarra).
Zitat von Manutd78:
That's my opinion and that's why I'd say Chelsea do indeed need another central midfielder beside Lampard, Mikel, Ramires (injured Essien and Romeu as well), but has to seek for a playmaker, who replaces Lampard, who actually left his playmaking role behind.
Well I'm really hopeful that we'll bring in another (playmaking) central midfielder too (and another defensive midfielder) here's hoping for Sissoko and Moutinho (or failing them Asamoah, M'Vila, Fernando, Odjidja-Ofoe or Fofana for defensive and Defour or Ilicic for the central role).
Zitat von Manutd78:
Yeah, I don't think so. We have got an oversupply of strikers; I don't think there's a realistic chance, that we're signing another one apart the matter, that from what I've heard Sneijder could be the last signing of the summer transfer window for us.
My guess is it's probably just a watching brief that's been reported as transfer interest. Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Ajax have all shown some interest in either Mohamed or Teteh Bangura (or both) so it would make sense for Man U to watch them as well (either that or Berbatov may really be off to PSG!).
Zitat von Manutd78:
On to another point. Torres and Mikel should have impressed at the 2-0 win over Aston Vila. I didn't see that match; honestly, I've been interested in german DFB-Pokal (cup), which started yesterday (don't forget to get informed about Hannover's game tomorrow :p ), but I heard from a Chelsea fan I know, that Torres should have been motivated and played with enjoyment of the game.
I personally believe that he's going the step up next season and will prove himself as one of the world's best strikers again (if he's not suffering an injury)...mark my words!
Hopefully you're right, as one of my friends said 'the goals couldn't have come from more gratifying sources' (Torres, MacEachran).

Oscar is Internacional's answer to Ganso or Casemiro and he's attracting quite a bit of interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid, he's been dubbed the next Kaka, but he is however closer in playing style to Iniesta, he'll be an important feature in Brazil's U20 World Cup squad with Lucas and Neymar already in the senior Brazil team. Though Brazil drew with Egypt in their opening game of the U20 World Cup, the standout players were as expected, Oscar, Casemiro, Willian and Danilo (Coutinho was poor, hopefully Villa Boas was watching, I also hope Henrique gets more time next game).
Joselu's future hinges on whether or not Real can land another striker (namely Tevez) he scored recently for the senior team in the friendly against LA Galaxy. He's got a reasonably good technique for his age, he's good in the air and is notable for his quick decision making in front of goal, he looks good but our chances of signing him really depend upon who else Real signs (and if they're willing to sell to Chelsea, they seemed interested in distributing Morata, Canales and Sarabia to lesser Spanish teams as opposed to potential rivals, understandable, but annoying). Oh and btw I'm still waiting to hear back from my mate about Maribor, he's not a Chelsea expert (he's an Barca and AIK fan, but in his office there are apparently the maddest Chelsea fans in Sweden!).
Onto further speculation, not too much today, everyone's still waiting for the final word from Javier Pastore (which will be that he's joined PSG, it's just not confirmed 100% at the time I'm writing). Adam Johnson may be made available by Man City and we're in against Real Madrid for the 'Romanian Messi' Gabriel Torje, and that's about it. Oh and there's more speculation that we may yet sign Hulk.
Onto the U20 World Cup, I've already passed judgement on a poor Brazil, Egypt had a number of strong players, the three Mohamed's Ibrahim, Salah and Hamdy particularly impressed. Erik Lamela showed what a good deal Roma got, scoring for Argentina against Mexico, though for Mexico Erik Torres went alright, apparent Chelsea target Rodrigo Battaglia came on too late (90+4) to really judge his performance. While for South Korea Lee Ki Je really impressed as the ROK beat Mali.

Thanks chelseafan87 for giving insight on Oscar. Couldn't catch up with the Brazil game, so missed it. Have to see what shape will appear in future times, as AVB is quite interested in giving the returning loan players a chance to prove worth. I think signing young attacking players may be on agenda as we clearly lack in that department, particularly after selling few kids this summer.
On scouting in the Balkan regions, waiting for your description, although I know some of those in Sweden only, mostly by following the youth signings we've made from Sweden. Large-Angereds now have provided us 3 players, after Amin Affane last season it's new scholar Anjor Osmanovic & another younger kid Issac sseskwembo. Also a kid from Orebro Sk has said to have successfully completed his trial & might join u14s, but that's understandably unconfirmed. It's quite clear Sweden is going to be one of our main grounds.
On u20 WC note, I hope we don't make another mistake & sign someone who performs & has got potential. We've missed out on so many, Mata Di Maria Coentrao Nai & so so many more. look at their values now. If we have had any sensible scouting done it should take good look at u20 WC. England as always have sent a B or C team as usual. But other nations take it seriously & send quality players.

Barcelona have decided against signing Sergio Araujo, so if Chelsea is a little aware we can sign him easily now, given he will cost, but not at prices like world falling apart. I think we should take this opportunity

The ball's in Villa Boas, Gourlay and Abramovich's court now, hopefully they'll act, but they've been pretty slow thus far, I'd sign him, but we'll have to wait and see if management decide too.
Not too much happening today in the transfer arena, Adam Johnson may be available, and Inter look likely to beat us to Casemiro, which may make the relatively anonymous (at the U20 World Cup in the 1st game anyway) Coutinho available. We're apparently looking to Modric as a Pastore alternative now (I'd hardly say that's the case considering we tried to sign Modric before Pastore, several times in fact, but that's how it's being reported). Kaka is apparently also back on the agenda. Further there's been a little speculation about Hulk, Lukaku and Moutinho.
As to our Balkan scouting, I should be able to do a full write up tomorrow, my mate's just waiting to hear back from a colleague who's actually in the Balkans at the moment, but just as a short intro, it seems our focus is primarily on Slovenia, Croatia and Romania, with Romania providing a number of important targets at present (the two Slovene's we're most interested in are actually playing for Palermo Josip Ilicic and Armin Bacinovic, in fact we missed securing Ilicic by just days apparently, at least we still have a good chance now).
As to the U20 World Cup, we need to get Mikel on the phone to Ahmed Musa, Edafe Egbedi and Ramon Azeez as Nigeria demolished Guatemala 5-0 (OK so it's only Guatemala, but Nigeria we're good and they rested two of their better players strikers, Uche Nwofor and Sani Emmanuel. Spain in their demolition of Costa Rica also looked good, Romeu played reasonably well, but teh stand out Spaniards were, Rodrigo and Isco, while captain Marc Bartra also impressed (Spain also rested Sergio Canales).
Colombia thumped France, in what has been called the game of the cup so far, France were bad, but probably played as well as a great Colombian team allowed them to, Porto star James Rodriguez was the star (Villa Boas why haven't we been after him?), but Luis Muriel, Santiago Arias, Michael Ortega all played very well too. For France, Antonie Greizmann showed why he should wear a Chelsea shirt, best by far in a bad team effort, Kakuta was alright but should have been better, Fofana failed to live up to his reputation and Bakambu was stupidly subbed off at half time. Not much happened in the Portugal v Uruguay game, hopefully they'll improve in their next fixtures.
