Zitat von Manutd78:
Aguero could be on his way to Madrid.

The Tevez saga (I told you two months ago that he's going to leave Manchester City this summer) is going to be interesting. We could see a striker roulette in the next couple of weeks ...

Things could be very interesting as strikers from a number of clubs are jostled around, along with Aguero and Tevez any number of Real forwards (except Ronaldo) could be shown the door (Sarabia already has been, and Canales will as well), add Drogba and Anelka, perhaps Berbatov and even if recent reports are anything to go by Robin van Persie, we could be set for interesting times.

Onto Chelsea speculation, we're still being linked to Pastore, Modric (for a ridiculous fee), Falcao, Sneijder, Nasri and Kaka (oh and Villa Boas is after Scott Dann yet again, apparently). Four Premier League clubs, including Chelsea are chasing Caen prospect M’Baye Niang now and Real Madrid and Chelsea appear to be in a battle for Souleymane Coulibaly. Axel Witsel's pro-ported move to Blackburn is also being monitored (probably to see how he adapts to playing in England, he was certainly a major target a while ago, but interest has waned recently, possibly due to his habit of collecting red cards, and also the emergence of Josip Ilicic as a viable alternative). We're now also linked with a move for Real Madrid back Pepe. Villa Boas is now also apparently interested in bringing Fredy Guarin to Chelsea. Blaise Matuidi and Moussa Sissoko seem to be under some consideration (finally!), though that may suggest that one of our current defensive mids is on the way out (hopefully it just means they're going to play Essien and Ramires further forward, I don't know what this means for Mikel).

There has also been some speculation that Theo Walcott is in Villa Boas sights, he'd be one of the last to leave Arsenal, he seems very fond of the club, having said that, he'd be one of the more valuable players we could sign from Arsenal, I'd have him ahead of Clichy (who Man City have just signed), Arshavin or van Persie.

In more significant news, there's a rumours have been circulating that Sao Paulo have rejected a bid of €40million from Chelsea for Lucas, huge money for another promising but largely untested talent (I kinda hope its true though, he seems very near to Neymar's level of skill). Brazil fielded Ramires and another Brazilian Chelsea target Paulo Henrique Ganso in their opening Copa America clash. In more Copa America news, Sergio Aguero scored Argentina's opening goal, Juan Manuel Vargas played particularly well for Peru and Falcao went on late in Columbia's game against Costa Rica. Edinson Cavani had a quiet game for Uruguay.

Some young players Chelsea should watch at Copa America are Venezuela and Malaga's young striker Jose Salomon Rondon, Uruguay and Palermo's young striker Abel Hernandez, Argentina and Spartak Moscow defender Marcos Rojo.

Zitat von Manutd78:
I don't see where this is making any sense. With Terry, Luiz and Ivanovic Chelsea has got three high quality centre backs with Alex and Slobodan Rajkovic (who's been on loan to Vitesse) to follow. I don't see the need for Chelsea to sign a centre back. I'd rather see the need to sign a winger, central midfielder or striker, but signing a centre back appears as much senseless as signing a new goalkeeper.

I'd rather settle Ivanovic as a centre back again and buy another right-back than making a move for a high priced 28-years-old centre-back, Real Madrid won't let go that easy...

This does not make so much sense to me.

I wouldn't be for the move, but there has been speculation that Alex and Ivanovic may be on their way out, Alex to Russia and Ivanovic to Spain, personally I'd like both to stay as I think they're valuable members of the squad, having said that I expect at least one will move soon, though not necessarily this transfer window. Pepe is not among my preferred picks anyway as a centre back, surely Rolando or Bruno Alves, both younger and familiar with Villa Boas would be better choices.

Zitat von Manutd78:
Well, in opposition to most of the Chelsea fans I did not see Luiz' six months at Stamford Bridge that strong to be the future solution without any doubt, because I personally think many people have been blinded by his goals, but he made a lot of decisive mistakes.
But getting used to EPL more and more, he could definitely strengthen the Chelsea squad next year. With Ivanovic there's another (used as a right-back) defender, who can play this part on a high level.

That's true, but he seems the real deal, it should be remembered that for a centre back he's really still quite young and he's only had a fairly brief experience of English football, while he did make some costly errors last season, I have no doubt he'll be a valuable long term addition to the club (there's even been some speculation that Barca may be willing to offer a cash plus player exchange for him).

Zitat von Manutd78:
Well, Mikel has been linked with a 17-million-Euros-move to Juventus today. This could open the door for Sissoko, doesn't it?

Alot of Chelsea fans will be happy about this, I've always been a strong supporter of Mikel, he is much better than he's tagged as being, and he was really good for us early last season, problem is with a three man midfield his opportunities will be significantly decreased, particularly as he's behind Essien and Ramires, (with MacEachran also rising), if you add the recent interest in a range of defensive mids (Sissoko, Matuidi, Odjidja-Ofoe, Asamoah, apparently Seydou Keita if you believe some of the speculation, even Mikel's own brother Joel Chukwuma Obi), he may not have a future with the club, having said that 17 million is not enough for a 24 year old with 4 years left on his contract.

Zitat von Manutd78:
Yeah, and Clichy said that you would be characterless, if you'll join Manchester City two years ago.

There could be an interesting selling-off at "the mighty (and trophy-less) Arsenal" this summer. A lot of players have been linked with moves to other clubs. A Parker replacement for Cesc seems to become more and more difficult at the moment, while Diaby, Fabregas, Nasri, Denilson, Vela, Bendtner and Rosicky are linked with moves to other clubs, following Clichy, who just joined Manchester City.
Now even Walcott is linked with a move to Chelsea; mad. But Chelsea does definitely need another striker. Malouda on the left wing is at the peak of his career, while Benayoun on the right wing can't be a real issue for being a starter at the moment. Sturridge is not a winger and could probably join Bolton on loan for another year, while Kakuta is linked with a permanent move to Fulham. So, conclusion: You've got Malouda, Benayoun, Kalou and ... ? Anelka as a right winger? I thought that the times of this emergency-solution are over now.

Yeah well that's Clichy, I've never been a fan of his, as to Chelsea and the great Arsenal sell off, we're now really after Nasri, Tottenham having said they'll not play ball selling Modric, there's apparently a chance for Fabregas too, as Barca play very hard ball with Arsenal, Walcott seems unlikely to leave, but Chelsea money may yet persuade him. Signing any of them would be good, but for mine Nasri is the most likely, Fabregas would be the best and Walcott would fulfill the most needed role in the team. As for the effect on the current squad, Anelka's basically gone already, I don't think Malouda has much of a future with Chelsea either (that's quiet possibly true for Kalou too), but I don't see Benayoun (whose essentially a bench player) and Kakuta (who we fought so hard to sign and is finally showing his potential) going anywhere.

Now to today's speculation, there are the usual suspects, Modric (I really don't think its happening), Nasri, Moutinho, Hulk, Falcao, Aguero, Sneijder and Pastore. Apparently we may look to Michel Bastos to replace Zhirkov. Young Barca defender Andreu Fontàs may now not be offered a new contract, and Chelsea are interested. Man U want Brazil U17 star Adryan on trial, so hopefully he can stop off in London at some point so we can trial him too, while Man U have been knocked back for Fiorentina's 17 year-old starlet Federico Bernardeschi, who has previously attracted interest from Chelsea as well. We may also compete with Barca for Shaktar's star left back Yaroslav Rakitskiy (now Coentrao's at Real Madrid and Ashley's staying I don't really see why we need him).

Finally young Chelsea signing Gael Etock is going on loan to Sporting Lisbon.

Do not think we're really trying for walcott, I've heard about Shaqiri & Sidney Sam possibility, but as of now most likely Anelka will be played as stop gap solution this season.

Zitat von Manutd78:
Well, I don't think Nasri is very likely. The most likely transfer moves for Chelsea could be Walcott and Fabregas, but all the newspapers claimed about a possible move from Nasri to Old Trafford the last two days, so I don't think there is so much truth in it, when everybody's saying he'd be passing a medical at Old Trafford soon following a 20 million pound bid Sir Alex should have made.
I think Fabregas is ambitious to win silverware and he's the one Chelsea could land for, while Walcott indeed would be the man for the wing, but not that much focussed on trophies, he could probably feel committed to stay with Arsenal.

By the way: What are the alternatives for Walcott? Does Chelsea have any other winger on the radar?

Interest in Nasri is strong from what I've heard, but you're right that it may be coming too late, as for Fabregas, he's certainly firming as a possibility, given the current issues between him and the Barca President, interestingly a number of other clubs (Man City and Real Madrid are seen as most likely) have approached inquiring about Fabregas, though it is unclear as to whether or not Chelsea has. Walcott is wanted, but the price (26 million) and his loyalty to Wenger will be the issue, I think there's a chance he'll be signed, but I wouldn't say its likely.

As for other wingers, there seems to be a general unwillingness to meet the price for Mata or Sanchez at this point, interest in Antonie Greizmann and Diego Perotti has waned, we were too slow in chasing Payet who joined Lille, Gervinho who joined Arsenal, Dzsudzsák who joined the 'Russian Man City' Anzhi Makhachkala and Ashley Young who joined Man U. However, Willian is still in the mix (with 2 others from Shaktar Donetsk, Alex Teixeira and Douglas Costa), as is Juan Manuel Vargas, Taison of Metalist Kharkiv, Yevhen Konoplianka of FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and if Villa Boas has any say I'd expect the Porto wingers Silvestre Varela, Hulk and Fredy Guarin, to be in with a real chance.

Not much in the way of speculation today, apart from a bit about Modric and Aguero (including some speculation that there may be a Micah Richards for Drogba swap as Man City sign Aguero, Lavezzi and Drogba! :0, I don't see it happening myself).

At Copa America Falcao impressed, Argentina did not, while at the U20 World Cup, Uruguay beat an Adryan less Brazil, while Samed Yesil again showed his skill for Germany against Mexico Germany lost (though Yesil will compete with Adryan, Coulibaly, Ademilson and Piazon for player of the tournament).

Are we really interested in those players chelseafan78? I mean it's very uncharacteristic for us to sign likes of taison or the FC Dnipro guy, because even if we have had interest in such players it never came into reality. So if we sign one of them it'll be a bit surprise.

On other note, Het Niewsblad says we've upped the offer for Genk keeper Courtois: http://bit.ly/qFZjZA

it's also a bit strange, because currently we have some good young keepers. But as the player claimed chelsea sees him as cech successor then he must be very good. Man united used to scout him as Manutd78 will say.

Thanks Manutd78. BTW is it confirmed Alexander Rehberg of your club Hannover 96 will join Chelsea? And what about Kasumovic? are we still sniffing around him or someone tapped him up?

I agree Blue_RebelZ that it is rather uncharacteristic for us to be looking to the Ukrainian league but the fact is there was substantial interest in both Alex Teixeira and Douglas Costa before they were acquired by Shaktar Donetsk, Teixeira in particular who was the star of the U20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009 and was under strong consideration by Chelsea and Man U, that interest abated for a while however and Teixeira signed with Shaktar. England's new big four have all shown interest in both Douglas Costa and Willian, as have Barca.

Juan Manuel Vargas has long been a target of interest, though we've never moved beyond just monitoring him, though he's getting on in years. Yevhen Konoplianka, the 'Ukrainian Messi' was scouted 12 months ago, and there was consideration of loaning him to Vitesse, it never happened, but I understand he's still under consideration. Taison has only recently appeared on Chelsea's radar, because of his strong performances in the Ukraine. With Villa Boas now in charge it only makes sense that several of his wing options from Porto would now be considered (and my mail is that the only obstacle to Hulk joining is his buyout clause). I would agree with your assessment that Taison and Konoplianka in particular are unlikely to sign, my favored options are Sanchez, Mata and Bale, but barring them I'd settle for any of the Shaktar Brazilians.

I didn't mention Eden Hazard (because he won't move), Gerard Deulofeu (too young and we'll have to fight Arsenal and Barca for him), Stewart Downing (not good enough) or Jonathan Biabiany (not currently a serious target, but should be) but they all also represent options. I would agree with the assessment that we need a pair of decent wingers.

I haven't heard anything on Rehberg or Kasumovic for a while, but I understand that there was pretty strong interest in both not that long ago.

As for all this Courtois interest, we've already got Turnbull, Taylor, Sebek and Delac and we've been linked with Courtois, sergio Asenjo, Costel Pantilimon and also Grzegorz Sandomierski (but he's out of the race, he's either Swansea City or Juventus? :s bound), I really don't see the need, particularly if Delac is as good as he's touted to be.

Finally onto today's speculation, more strong speculation about Pastore, Courtois, Aguero, Falcao, Mata, Sneijder and Nasri. In two other interesting developments, the club Thiago Motta's had contact with in London may not be Arsenal as the papers have been stating, but rather Chelsea (he's good but too old for us) and we are in a fight with Tottenham for Croatian star striker Ante Vukusic. Man U are now apparently interested in Moussa Sissoko, so we'd better sign him quick.
Also there is renewed interest in Shaktar pair Fernandinho and Darijo Srna (which is good news, though it seems like we might become Shaktar on the Thames!).

We're being linked with Marko Marin, a great talent no doubt, but hard to see how he'll come in England. He's a very clever boy, he knows he's at a team where he is the biggest star & therefore a safer passage to German NT rather than fighting for places in Chelsea. Let's see what rolls out of this. he has 2 year contract remaining as far as I know..

LOL this summer it's only keepers for us, Rehberg & this Courtois. Alsthough he will be loaned back to Genk

Well, in my opinion Marin is not able to compete in the EPL. He's too small, too tiny, hey may not be able to play any physical play as it's required in english football.
You are absolutely right, he's a big talent, but he's not the biggest star at Bremen, he played a season below the average far away from his best form and he's not (!) the star of the team. He's been bought to compensate the loss of Özil to Madrid in the playmaking role in Bremen's 4-1-2-1-2, but he failed last season...he just failed.

I don't see him in England, because he does not fit into english football!

Completely agree, he's not the man for us, though now with Essien's serious injury concerns we definitely need a new engine in the midfield, I would argue that Moussa Sissoko is that engine, unfortunately I've heard that Essien's injury has revived interest in Modric (who is NOT an equivalent replacement for Essien). Marin is talented, but he's small and not up to the physical challenge of the English game, add that to the fact that there are better play makers out there.

The other option I've heard linked to cover for Essien is Joao Moutinho, undoubtedly a fine player who shone under Villa Boas at Porto, but he lacks the physical presence of Essien, Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe and Kwadwo Asamoah have the physical presence, but probably are not ready to fully step up to the big time, (this injury has probably secured Mikel's future with Chelsea next season). Steven Defour, Josip Ilicic and Axel Witsel are other options (despite the latter now almost being a Blackburn player apparently).

Zitat von Blue_RebelZ:

Yes, it is a tad concerning that wee seem to be making the most progress with signing more keepers (though I'd caution against the naysayers out there who are already predicting third place or no champions league qualification, even that Abramovich will abandon the club, they've been saying that for years now...and even if he did, he'd want a good price for his stake and he's built a team that would attract an Arab oil sheikh {or possibly Vladimir Putin!}).

Onto today's speculation, the bad first, Man U are very close to signing Sneijder, Man City have placed a 37 million Euro bid for Sergio Aguero and a 22 million pound bid for Samir Nasri and Alex is in talks with Bayern Munich (then again the doomsayers may be onto something :0).

Now after the bad news, the OK news, more talk of Rolando, Scott Dann, Eto'o and Pastore. We've been strongly linked to Serbian starlet and Lokomotiv Plovdiv midfielder Nenad Lukic, and interestingly the dos Santos brothers (both Giovanni and Johnathan).

Roman has also apparently been touting a number of Russian and Russia based players (so we'll probably sign all of these guys :p), Alan Dzagoev (obviously he's been a long term target to replace Lampard), Pavel Mamaev (the 22 year old Slavic Essien), Spartak Moscow's Yevgeni Makeyev and Welliton Soares, CSKA Moscow's young Liberian midfielder Sekou Oliseh and Real Madrid Castilla winger and Russia U21 star Denis Cheryshev.

Onto the Copa America, Neymar was poor against Peru (but Lucas went well when he came on for Ramires) while Paulo Henrique Ganso again impressed and yet another Shaktar Brazilian Jadson scored.
