Few Premier League clubs will need to ensure they do everything with perfect precision in this summer’s transfer window quite like Chelsea. Having recently appointed a new head coach in Enzo Maresca, the Stamford Bridge side now have to navigate the murky waters of the transfer market in an attempt to sell the players they no longer want, whilst bringing in crucial new signings to bolster a squad that struggled to compete for a top-four finish last season. 

The Premier League has become synonymous with attracting some of the biggest stars in the game. Players from all corners of the world come to the English top-flight for a taste of its riches and prestige. Since the Premier League was re-formatted in 1992, it has been one of the most watched divisions in world football. It has also (certainly in more recent years) become the richest league in the world, splashing out the most money on transfers. The Premier League currently commands a market value of €11.54 billion from its 20 clubs. The next most valuable league is La Liga at just €5b. And players from all the top nations ply their trade in England.

Throughout the ages of football, there's seems to have been a consistent theme of taking goalkeepers for granted. Right from the school playground classic of sticking the worst player or 'the last pick' in goal, it's drilled into us that it's an unattractive position. Strikers and goalscorers often hoard the majority of the plaudits, but you could certainly make an argument that a team's keeper plays an equally important role. Perhaps in more modern times, the perception of goalkeepers is slightly changing, with the high emphasis on keeper's being good with their feet and able to play out. It seems keepers needed to become outfield players to get more recognition.
